The Love She Never Had

It seems I've always wondered why
and how true love could ever die.
Maybe I've been there before.

A family with so much to share.
Then there was the empty chair.
I still remember the closing door.

I've been there before.

She never thought he would cheat or lie
and when he did she could only cry.
All her dreams were gone.

She raised the kids all on her own.
Her will and love had made her strong.
She was strong. Lord she was strong.

Then she lived with her youngest son.
Rarely hears from the oldest one.
They always said he was like his dad.

When he's gone she'll start a new,
carry on with cares a few.
Maybe then her life won't be so sad

with the love she never had.
